With their 1970 release American Beauty, the Grateful Dead proved the could do more than jam. With short catchy songs, some of which are now classic rock radio staples (Sugar Magnolia, Truckin', this album moved away from their psycodelic outputs, and returned to their folk roots. 'Box of Rain', "Friend of the Devil', and 'Brokedown Palace' are all Deadhead favorites.
