Foo Fighters first album, which is self entitled (just about all bands do so) and has a laser gun on the cover, is a brilliant album. Recorded only a few months after Kurt's body was found, Dave went through many changes that year as well. He fought getting off drugs, and shattered after a divorce and the loss of his love. But through that pain and sorrow, was the birth of his own band, Foo Fighters. More like a tribute to himself in ways, as if telling us all that he won't stop doing what he loves even in the darkest of hours. Something I deeply respect. Dave is a funny, cool character, and he deserves better. His self recorded album, is filled with Punk-pure punk songs. More punk than grunge, I believe. Throughout the recordings Dave had to play the instrument himself on drums and the electric guitars, something most musicians shiver thinking. Dave collected members for the tour of the album, once he was signed to a new record label, Capitol. The song that is the most different on this album is the song 'Big Me', which in teh video Dave and company spoof Mentos, and call it 'Footos', someting comically genius. The album is great, and should be a must for any Nirvana or Foo fan alike.
