If you're gonna buy a cd that best represents this flat-picking icon, this may be as good a place to start as any. Been a fan for many years and this remains my favorite. It's the second to last project Merle played on. "Blues" may be a misnomer. It's really just Doc and Merle's incomparable flatpicking of some of the old time classics from the likes of WC Handy, Jimmy Rodgers and Roy Acuff. Accompanied by T. Michael Coleman on stand up bass and Sam Bush on fiddle.

Doc uses to play blues in his records, this one is made of blues or bluesy songs. You can listen to nice slide guitar playing from Merle (songs like Stormy Whether).
