I looked at marshall, peavy, budda, hughes and kettner, laney, line 6 etc...i chose soldano because it has it all.
i would replace if stolen.
a reverb would be the only improvement and depending on the player, more channel options.
favorite aspects are tone, build quality and visual appeal.there are no bad aspects.

this head is 50(tube)watts.that is plenty for club and small to medium venues.
it is a mono head but soldano has a unique way of cutting through and sounding larger.
this amp exceeds everything else in it's catagory.it is a no frills all quality amp head in the tradition of the 50 watt marshall plexi.
Several guitars are used covering all types of rock from classic to metal.
this amp covers all styles of music that need a barely broken up type of classic blues distortion to full on metal.
this is simply the best distortion sound there is. basically the legandary slo 100 in a half size more affordable format.
no noise whatsoever.
it is absolutly clean at high volumns and the distortion is so diverse that it will satisfy even the most discerning player.
This is an old fashion nob turner.basically you plug in any halfway decent guitar and you can't go wrong.the layout format is very typical and is easy to use.any setting will provide a good tone.a good place to start is all controls at the halfway mark(careful with the master volumn if you have complainers near by).
Soldano is renowned for it's build quality.don't let the more affordable cheaper version comments scare you.this amp still exceeds in that area.
tubes last a long time probably twice as long as some others.
this amp is road worth of professional use.
If you know what you want for a specific amp with no frills you can get a superior quality amp for little cash. The only way this amp could be better for what it is, is if it were 100W.
Has gain, bass, treble, presence, middle controls.
50w a little underpowered for live performance
- unless you dont like to rock
This amp is has only a couple of uses, to shred or to give a solid rock tone. The distortion is clear and defined, every note has its chance to be heard. Kicks any amp in its price range for chunk. Hey this is a tube guitar head with killer tone for around $500, there really is nothing in that price range that would be tube first off and if it were it wouldn't get the same kind of gain.
You turn this one on and it's going to sound good no matter what you do. One channel, one knob, that's what it boils down to
Tubes last a long time. Take care of your amp and theres no need for repair
