Ernie Ball/Music Man Super And Hybrid Bass

Made by Ernie Ball/Music Man

Description Best Punk/ska strings ive ever found. Has the best sound for Slap and sounds great with distortion. Holds the fort well even on non-music man basses, like my good old yamaha rbx460

All in all. These are the best strings i have found for the genres that i most often play. Sure, They don't sound as good when i play "Yesterday" as it did with my Yamaha's original strings but maybe ill just punk cover it. I give it an overall 4 because 5 would require them to be free
Price: $12.00 (new)
Where Obtained: pretty much any musical supply store
The strings i use are the Hybrid and Super ernie bass slinky bass roundwounds. The supers are 45, 65, 80, and 100 whereas the hybrids are 45, 65, 85, 105. The all time best feature is they just glide through your fingers. I've played some pretty rough sets with ernie ball and my fingers always come out fine
Sound Quality:
My two basses (yes im a bass player, though i still love all you guitarists, no hard feelings you know) are a Yamaha rbx460 which is a standard gig bass for me for when im expecting a potentially rowdy show. The other is a Sting Ray, which would be awesome even without the slinkies. Right now im heading a Ska/hip hop/hardcore band (very interesting, no guitar though, drat). The Hybrids work best for hardcore songs where you're using your E and A stings the most. The Supers are then the all purpose back up. They sound great with just about every song we play. I give the Supers a 5 and the Hybrids a 3
Unlike with ernie ball guitar strings, my bass strings have never once broken and while they do wear fairy quickly (ussually about 3 months if you rarely clean them till they start to get disgusting). I find that the sound quality doesn't start to go till about twice that long or longer depending on your bass hygiene. I only change mine because its nice to have good looking strings every now and again
