Somebody said this isn't their best album? Really? This is THE essential metal album. We wore this thing out when I was a kid, and it still hits my cd player pretty often.

This is Slayer. This is THE thrash/speed metal of all time. Nothing, in my opinion, is as aggressive as this album. It clocks in under 30 minutes, but it is some of the most intense metal ever created. Untill to this day, every time i hear the intro and the exiting of raining blood, i get chills up my spine.

So, I picked up the guitar later in life than most. At the time I set a specific set of goals, one being that I wanted to learn the intro to "Raining Blood"...two weeks later I had it down pat. That's the beauty of this album. There are more technically proficient bands but Slayer has a knack for writing memorable hooks. "Angel of Death", "Altar of Sacrafice", "Raining Blood": of all of Slayer's releases this one has the most memorable repetoire of brutal tuneage. Seething anger and despair blasts from every second. Good thing this baby clocks in just about 30 minutes, any longer your brain would hemorage. So, in summation this is by far Slayers most complete album ..... BOW DOWN AT THE ALTAR!!!!!

This album may not be Slayers best, but its claim to fame is that it is the undisputed crowning acheivement in the genre of thrash/speed metal. The song 'Raining Blood' has one of the most intense riffs ever laid down! Rock on Slayer!!!!
