I looked at Fender Strats, both the American Series and the Squier series. The action on this was better and the neck was narrower, which is important to me because my hands are so small. I saw a 7 year old kid playing the Danelectro and knew that his hands were smaller than mine. I was sold at that point.

I also looked at a stratocaster but chose the danelectro because of the options it offered. I wanted the retro tuned pickups and the 60's distortion option. Besides all the good options and the great sound, it looks absolutely great. Its a beautiful guitar. To see its picture, visit the danelectro website at Danelectro.com

For a guitar manufactured in China, it has a great deal of craftmanship. It is a 21 fret 6 string guitar. It has a volume, tone, and distortion knob, 3 retro tuned pickups and a blue sparkle finish. (also available in red and black) Great 60's looks as well as sound.
This gutar is fairly light and has smooth fast action.
I used the guitar with a Danelectro Nifty Fifty amp and it has an excellent warm sound.
Its a strong guitar so playability is not a concern. It seems to stay in tune as well as any other decent guitar.
