I chose this one becuase the reviews were good for the other Essex models, I really like the finish on the guitar, and I didn't have to spend a whopping 500+ bucks for a Gibson. Gibsons are definately worth it if you gig or are a studio musician, but for me shelling out money like that only to have it sit in my room is not worth it. My favorite aspect of this guitar is the cherry burst finish. The worst aspect would have to be the minor dings that I found. Overall I think the guitar and the Essex line of guitars are better then most copies, but not comparable with the real thing, I feel that it all depends on what your needs are when getting a guitar and I found what I needed when I bought this one.

For it's price range it's an unbelievable value. It contain some very minor dings, I had to look for them, otherwise it's a thing of beauty.
I play it clean through a Vox(cambridge15) amp. I play classic rock and I can easily get a CCR sound out of it.
I can see someone playing blues and country with it.
I have had this guitar for two months, I adjusted the intonation once after changing out the strings. Other then that it has held up well through the last couple of months.
