I looked around, I have personal distain for Crates, Ibanez, in this size range of amps. I it choose because of the vox styling, sound, size, price. I would probably go up to a Cambridge 30 for the reverb, which would have made this amp that much better. It's loud for such a small amp. It can get a bit trebely sounding. This amp is loaded speaker and line outs can be ideal for recording situations.
Model Year: 1999
Price: $186.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Mars Music
Features:
Treble, Mid-range boost, Bass, Tremolo Depth, Tremolo speed, Gain, Gain Boost, Volume. one footswitch input/output, speaker out, line out, Headphone. I play Rock Blues at home and this amp is Great for that purpose. Tube preamp , solid state power amp.
Sound Quality:
Strat(yamaha) and les Paul(essex) copies and a Vox wah. This amp is mostly clean to slightly distorted at high volumes. I play rock and blues which suit this amp just fine. Definately not a Heavy metal amp. Compared to other amps in its size and price range it is great. The usual 60 cycle hum will show up with single coil strats and excessive distortion from effects pedal will feedback. I'll reserve the 5 rating for Bassmans, Ac30, marshall 100w heads , etc....
Ease of Use:
Very simple three tone controls, volume, gain
Durability:
The construction is superb,I don't play live so I couldn't tell you road realibility. Only preamp tube to fiddle around with.
