I looked at Martin, Collings and Taylor. I am a petite person and this 712C just fit. I know the sound will improve with age. I would change nothing.
Model Year: 2000
Price: $1700.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Mass St. Music. Lawrence Ks.
Features:
I have a rosewood back and sides with a spruce top. It's a six string, concert series a bit smaller than a dreadnot.
Playability:
The neck is a bit smaller than a martin. I love the action. It contains no flaws. It was custom made for me by Taylor.
Sound Quality:
I play bluegrass, country and folk. The sound is full and warm. It does great on stage. I'm the one that needs work.
Durability:
I used to play a twelve string. It was terrible for the stage and climate changes. I really like the six string much better. I don't have to tune as long or as often. Taylor has a great sound.

Looked at Martin, Gibson. Have Fender Tele, Gibson ES175 and another Taylor 615. Usually pick up the 912, nice size, real quality
