This is a great amp for what I use it for. I play a wide variety of music and it suits most styles pretty well. I did like the sound of the Fender Blues Jr. a bit better on the clean side but the headphone jack is what sold me. No other small tube amp has the headphones out jack. With a kid on the way, very important feature. Can't go wrong for the price I paid for a brand new tube amp.
Price: $289.99 (new)
Where Obtained: Muscian's Friend
Features:
I use this amp for pratice. I get home late from work so the headphone jack is great. The 15 watts is plenty of power for what I use it for. I play with my brother (on drums) and it's just loud enough for us two in a smallish room.
Sound Quality:
I play with an American Standard Strat. It works great through this amp. Doesn't quite get as clean as a Fender amp but makes up for it on the distortion side. Overall I'd say the range of sounds that I can get out of this amp is quite good. The only part that is not quite up to snuff is the reverb. It's pretty weak.
Ease of Use:
This amp is very simple to use. Only 6 knobs to fiddle with. That said, I'm getting tired of having only one channel. The Crate owners manual even gives you a bunch of settings to get you started.
Durability:
Don't take it out of the house much. It does make the trip to visit my brother (about 150 miles) no problems so far in transportation. The whole unit is pretty darn solid.
