I looked at all kinds of amps, kustom, marshall, peavey, but i found i could get the best tone and most power with the crate.i would not buy this amp again if it was lost or stolen. by now i know alot more about amps and why they are good. it could be better by using celestion speakers, and the body being more solid.my favorite thing - its powerfull worst favorite - the tone isnt good.
Model Year: 2000
Price: $630.00 canadian (new)
Where Obtained: music world academy
Features:
3 way switching pedal, 2 distortions (one light and one heavy)one clean.there is a plug in for effects processors, 120 watts - very powerfullsolid state electronics. in the future i will change the twin 12" speakers with celestion.
Sound Quality:
I use a low grade fender strat style copy, and this fits nu metal (not like i will have anything to do with that s---), rock , just about anything with dist. the distortion has great tone, but the clean is not great.i use a zoom 607, and it is great . the only problem i have is fedbck issues, but mostly are due to my s--- a-- guitar and crappy crap effects pedal. now that i think of it - my amp is the only thing worth having.
Ease of Use:
It is extremely easy to use. only a mentally disabled person could not work it and find the right settings. but - it limits the possibilitys
Durability:
I just played in a "guitar war" the other week, and it rocked ass.i havent repaired it once, and have had it for a year. it is kind of falling apart a little but thats eaisly remedied.

It has its place, Its a good amp if you want good sound at a cheep price or want too move up from a cheap pratice amp,it has enough power to make you parents bitch
Model Year: 2001
Price: $340.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Musicians Friend
Features:
While it is a low level amp I play a lot of blues and found it be very sweet The ability too strech the tone and sustain is very good.Ive played out and had it cranked up to 8 and the sound is sweet the distortion is as crunchy as need be if you know how to set up the tone effects. It is solid state and depending on what you want it does what it should. Its not a tube Amp if you want tube sound spend a 1000.00 and buy a tube amp if you want cranking power of solid state its the best in my book for the money
Sound Quality:
I use a snarling dog peddle and a boss milk box,if your cables are cheep you get the buzzing s---. the high gain does buzz but if your cranked it make no dif.On the clean side it does put out . Compared to my Randell and Peavy it stands up!! I run all three of them together with differnt effects with a total wattage output of 320 and the crate has it place in all this
Ease of Use:
Once you get too setting the 3 band Equ(Hi LOW MID) you'll have no problem. You'd have to be brain dead not to get it.if your searching for your own sound its a good amp to start with
Durability:
Its been giging for a year and have yet to replace or repair anything. If your in a trash band it woun't take too much trashing, but take care of it and you'll get years of service

SHIT
Model Year: 2000
Price: $420.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Guitar Center
Features:
It has some OK features. It has your cheap footswitch, cheap knobs, cheap speakers, cheap looks, cheap sound, everything is cheap. The layout makes sense and all and is easy to use but the knobs are really crappy looking and are overall cheap looking. It has some effects but they are not very good, in fact kind of crappy. Obviously this a crate so its solid-state . 120 watts but you can only crank it to five at the most before the speakers start to freak and pop.
Sound Quality:
I used it with my guild which is really hot and the distortion was ok not very chunky at all and it wasn't really metal type distortion more like punk. This amp is not very good for different styles other than rock. This amp is ok but you get what you pay for. The speakers are really s---ty and can't handle very much at all. The clean has no real tone king of dead, the effects are bad, they can be foot switched on and off but when they are off you can still hear some of the effect being used, like the flange or chourus.
Ease of Use:
Very easy to use
Durability:
I have had problems with the volume, footswitch and the amp switching from overdrive to clean by it's self, very frustrating, this thing is very crappy just like most korean s--- creatures

I love crates distortion but didnt have enough cash to get a tube combo, so this suited very well. im about to buy a blue voodoo and im gonna run the BVhead through the cab and a line out to this amp for use as a personal monitor. Still great for practice and recording though.
Price: $379.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Guitar Center
Features:
This combo has a 120 watt solid state head and two custom 12" speakers. Three channel switching an external speaker and extra insert jack. volume and 3 range eq for clean. volume, gain1, gain2/shape and high/low eq for overdrive channels. It has 5 onboard effects as well. It packs a great punch for practicing or is perfect for recording.
Sound Quality:
I use this with a epiphone les paul and an additional 4x12 cab and the lows are warm and clear. this amp can really crunch in the distortion channel.
Ease of Use:
Simple straightfoward design and use. nothings easier.
Durability:
I had one for a couple days and it shot, but then i got it replaced and i havent had any problems with this one for over 2 1/2 years.
