This is a very solid collection of Son House tunes recorded after his rediscovery in the 1960s. His guitar playing is a little bit uneven as he hadn't touched a guitar for 20 years, but his vocal intensity remains incredible -- there are even a couple of a cappela tunes which are mesmerizing.

I highly recommend this album for delta blues enthusiasts, as it's got some real down-home spirit. All in all, though, I suppose I'd buy the 1941-1942 field recordings first.
