I did not want to spend a whole lot of cash for an A/E as my heart will always be with electrics...I tried literally dozens of guitars before finding this one, and I was blown away with the quality of this guitar as compared to how much I bought it for. I think the abalone is worth more than the entire guitar is!
Price: $200.00
Where Obtained: eBay
Features:
Made in Korea but of pretty decent quality. Your standard 6 string, single cutaway, mini-jumbo acoustic/electric. 24 frets, gold hardware, 3 band EQ, piezo pickup. Mine is natural finished although I've seen these in gloss black and also a Les Paulish cherry sunburst. What got me was the abalone inlay around the body and the soundhole, as well as on the fretmarkers.
Playability:
Definitely a winner in my book. Action is pretty decent. Compared to similarly priced A/E's, ala Fenders, Takamines & Ovations, this takes the cake.
Sound Quality:
Sounds better unplugged, IMO. Live, I play it through a Boss AC-2 acoustic simulator to beef up the tone. This definitely is not in the same arena as Taylors, Guilds, Gibsons, etc., but dollar for dollar, I can not complain.
Durability:
I've played this live 3 times a week for about the past 6 months without any problems or complaints. It has taken its share of dings but the finish is still holding up well. Only thing I added was a strap button to the neck heel.
