The only way this guitar could be better was if I had won it and not had to pay for it.....If it was lost or stolen, I would replace it with another one
Model Year: 2002
Price: $3100.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Richmond Music
Features:
Very nicely put together in Nazareth Pa. Solid AAA spruce top that has an incrediable cross silky grain. Sides and Back are perfectly matched AAA Indian Rosewood. Gloss finish with aging Toner. Very fancy Abalone Rosette as well as hand inlaid abalone around the entire sound board as well as the neck extension. 14/20 frets dreadnaught body, gold open waverly tuners
Playability:
This rascal came right out of the case playing loud, clear and easy...the neck is very easy to play on. It finger picks just as easy as it flat picks, I might even have them raise the action a hair when I have a bone saddle put in. (does not need it really) but I play mostly flat picking, and the action is just a little lower then I am used to allthough it makes it VERY easy to play.
Sound Quality:
The sound is what sold this guitar to me. I allready have a Martin, but this guitar's tone is just unbeliveable. It has the most "Golden" tone I have ever heard come out a guitar. I went to my local music store to just but some strings for my D-15 and this baby caught my eye, so I picked it up and started to gently finger pick it.....The sales man told me if I thought it sounded good finger picking, just wait until you put a pick to that rascal...he was right, it came home with me that day. It has the most soulfull base mixed with clear bell like mid range and the clarity of the trebles is mind boggling, over all it has the most balanced beautiful tone of any guitar I have ever had the pleasure to hear.
Durability:
It is a Martin, so I am sure it will outlive me...(besides this baby will rarely leave the house
