Martin 000-18

Acoustic 6-String Guitar

Made by Martin

Description A true traditional 000 with a shorter 24.9" scale and appointments that match Martin's D-18 dreadnought. The shorter scale yields a lighter, more delicate feel to the string action.

I really wanted a Martin, and this was reasonably priced for it's features and overall quality. Compared to other brands of similar features and sound, this just won me over. It's not the most beautiful natural finish matched knarled hardwood looking guitar. but it sure sounds like it. With it's construction and finish this guitar will outlive most of it's owners, and still sound great. I'll write ya in my later years and let ya know how we're doing : )

Very kool looking guitar. The finish is satinlike, textured, seems scratchproof. Guitar seems very tough and durable, with the Jett Black HPL (High Pressure Laminate), yet retains that typical Martin Tone. The neck (Natural Stratabond-Bonded/layered Hardwood) has a very different, sturdy and comfortable feel, almost seems heavier than the body, and also very dry, with a textured clear finish. Fingerboard is black micarta (like a polished rosewood), very playable, great for picking, strumming, even slide guitar. Bottom Line Its probably the most durable, great sounding, acoustic-electric cutaway you'll ever get to play
Sound Quality:
Sound is simply awesome..I use it simply into a direct box than into my mixer, with a lil reverb, it's very full sounding and tonally flexible with the fishman prefix pro pickup. Alone it is still medium loud with a very natural warm and bright tone, typical martin guitar tone. I was looking for a multi purpose (strummin, finger-pickin, sliding, playing lead guitar) acoustic electric, this was it!!! This guitar fits most all acoustic guitar players needs from country to rock to jazz and improv
This is a new guitar for me. It came without a case. The design of this guitar was obviously for durability as well as tone. The finish is scratch and nick resistant, and needs no polishing per say, it is a matte black textured finish. You would probably take off a persons head if this guitar was to be used in that 3 stooges fashion : ))It is just that durable, prolly why it sells without a need for it.. A gig bag would suffice just fine. The neck, well it seems heavier than the body itself, made of stratabond, prolly a similar patent for baseball bats. Bottom Line This guitar is built tough, looks tough, plays and sounds sweet. It will prolly never warp, body or neck, and will outlive most humans.
