I selected this based on tone and playability. i liked it better than the gretsch's i was originally after. if i were just playing jazz, i'd probably go for a heritage with a one piece spruce top (at about the same price). but for my purposes the laminate top is more durable and less feedback. beautiful sounds to this guitar.
Model Year: 2001
Price: $2295.00 (new)
Features:
Classic 57 pick-ups, wine red finish with flame. bound neck. tune-o-matic and klusons.
Playability:
Action set low. comfortable playing neck. slight finish flaws in the binding. frets could have been dressed better.
Sound Quality:
Great sound from this guitar. surprisingly versatle. basic electronics and hardware of a les paul-but the full hollow body adds depth and character. three dimensional tone. capable of big fat sounds. i use this for rock, blues and jazz. feedback not a big problem for me.
Durability:
Durable guitar...laminate body. sensitive to temp. changes.
