This is my favourite pickup. I can get nice full, round, singing notes out of it, and it sounds good clean or overdriven. In my opinion a pickup should sound good when played clean. Then I know it will sound good as I add overdrive or effects. This one meets that reqirement. When I told the folks at Seymour Duncan that I wanted a pickup for playing blues, this is the one they recommended. They were right.
Price: $89.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Torres Engineering
Features:
I use the SD Jazz as my neck pickup in my Ibanez AS50 archtop semisolid body. I got it to replace the Ibanez B58 humbucker that came with the guitar
Sound Quality:
I use this for a variety of musical styles. I play through a Marshall AVT275, and this pickup sounds great for jazz chord melodies on the clean channel. It also sounds great when fingerpicked or flatpicked through the accoustic simulator channel. It's at it's best when played throught the OD1 channel with medium light gain. That's when it wails and cries the blues, or rocks out the Chuck Berry licks. It even sounds good on the OD2 channel, which is a real hair raiser. It's also great for both clean and overdriven rhythm.
Durability:
This is a very well made pickup. Once it's mounted correctly, it should last forever. I use it with a nickel cover, so it's well protected.

My favorite neck pickup.
Where Obtained: Finland
Features:
Standard humbucker.
Sound Quality:
Very good when using clean sound. Captures dynamics of your playing well. Some players could seek for more sustain and less "compromise"-style of sound.
Durability:
No problems here.
