I chose this one because it was a martin White ash D-16
Speccial edition . The price was right.
Price: $1000.00 canadian
Where Obtained: private
Made in USA
solid spruce top
White Ash side and back
martin D body style W/a profile neck
Easy to play
narrow profile neck
does not have the sustain of my D-28
Bluegrass & country folk
the sound is like an old gibson cedar top.
It's a martin . I needs very little adjustment other than trussrod adjustments when dry.
It is not just one of the best sounding accoustic ever.. But also a collectors item.. It will only go up in price.. (for sure a pre-war D28 sounds the best but the price would be huge!!)
Model Year: 1968
Where Obtained: Ebay
With Brazilian Rosewood back and side,(only on models before 1969)(I have also own a East-india Rosewood, it is also nice but BRW is always the best!) Martin solid spruce top, Herringbones with pearl dot inlay on rosewood fretboard.
Action a bit higher than usual accoustic guitar, (most Martin guitar with similar setting) But once you got familiar with it.. It is NICE and BALANCED
Theres nothing you can ask for more.. Boomy, Warm and Strong BASS the with punch out from all over the body but not muddy. Bell like treble and long sustain. It is not one of the sharpest sounding equipment but warm and balanced.
It is now 32 years old.. and still going...
