The Fender Toronado is the apotheosis of perfection! You couldn't find a better guitar. It plays better than any Gibson and you'll pay a forth of the price. I pity the fool who tries to steal it! I would come down on him/her like an ocean.
Model Year: 2002
Price: $520.00 (new)
Where Obtained: Musician's Friend (online)
Features:
Fender Deluxe model made in Mexico. Beautiful guitar! Pewter is the coolest color offered. Alder body. Maple neck with a "modern C shape." Vintage style tunning machines. Rosewood finger board with 22 medium-jumbo frets. 2 atomic humbuckers (neck, bridge) with seperate volume and tone controls for both. Has a really cool shape and an extraordinary feel.
Playability:
This guitar practically plays itself! Talk about smooth. It has the typical feel of a Fender guitar - only better. It doesn't matter what type of tunes you play or what style you play it with - you can do it all with the Toronado.
Sound Quality:
I play through a Fender Deluxe 90 amp (beautiful amp by the way) and it sounds extraordinary. There's no combination like a Fender guitar through a Fender amp. As far as effects are concerned - I use all kinds. It doesn't matter what you use - itll sound great! The Toronado has the feel of a Fender and the sound of a Gibson. I've played some beautiful Gibson guitars and the Toronado dwafts their sound quality in comparison. I can turn up the volume and play away and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between me and any band on the radio. Versitility and superior sound-quality.
Durability:
The first day I got it - one of the tone nobs fell off. I was pretty aggravated but all it took was a screwdriver and about 30 seconds. I haven't experienced any problems other than that. I would feel completely comfortable gigging with the guitar - it holds up very well. For 600 bucks it better!
