After trying out a number of software demos I came across powertracks when surfing and 10 minutes after downloading the demo I had recorded my first track (I found it that easy to get to grips with). For your first go at PC home recording this is THE software to get, especially at a bargain price of 29. 3 days after downloading the complete version over the internet the cd's and manual arrived which helped me with a few pointers but even though it is of good quality the manual really isnt needed as the on line help facility is there IF you need it. Within the first week I had recorded multi layer tracks, imported drum and backing tracks, and converted to MP3. All good enough to make friends and family raise their eyebrows and make a few complimentary "is that really you" remarks. The audio effects are a touch weak and a find a much better sound is gained from integrating my zoom box, and probably a line6 pod would be even better. If I had a bit more talent, or even some, I would be in the mp3 charts now thanks to powertracks, but for a bedroom studio for just messing about or using to make backing tracks just to jam along with, Powertracks can not be beat especially at such a low low price. It has certainly improved my playing, and got me out of a long rut of rythm guitar, which is now interspersed with riffs, lead fills, and basic solo work which all sounds much better with a few tweaks here and there.
