This album has 3 types of settings: solo guitar, two-track guitar, and a quartet setting with Joe, a 2nd guitar, bass, and drums. For those who'd like to get a taste of what Joe Pass is all about, and get some great music for the holidays, then this disc is for you. If you're more interested in the simultaneous melody-chords-walking style for which Joe is known, you're probably better off getting Virtuoso. There's some of it on here (check out "White Christmas" and "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear"), but probably not enough.

Some of the quartet tracks are pretty sweet ("God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" in 3/4), and there's also the "Happy Holiday Blues", which lets Joe loose on a 12-bar jazz blues, and upon which he takes full opportunity to spread his wings and uncork some hip ideas...
