Steve Morse is one of most complete players I've ever heard. Even in Dregs, Kansas, Solo or in Deep Purple he has a "Steve Morse way" to do things all right. I bought this album after I saw The Essentials instructional video. It's incredible the way that he makes shred things sounds melodic. 5 stars, no doubt.

The description of Steve Morse as a "former Kansas and Deep Purple axe slinger" is at best misleading, and at worst, just plane wrong. Steve is primarily identified with the Dixie Dregs. He toured with Deep Purple AFTER the Dregs.

I love this album. Steve is a master on the guitar and he writes some very interesting and complex music.

This in my opinion is the best Steve Morse CD. It is incredible. He uses technique + feeling, and if you love guitar, buy it now. And the others members of the group are excellent too.

5 stars CD

I bought this one after High Tension Wires and for some reason I don't think very highly of SS. I've played it a few times over the years but it seldom goes into the CD player.

I really dig Steve Morse and find his shredding to be tasteful and musical. it's easy to list his playing as an influence and this recording is just one of many get.
