Amazingly as good if not better than "and justice for all". hard choice to make "fade to black" is one of the best songs I've ever heard, and I've heard alot.

This is Metallica's best album. It whoops the hell out of Master of Pupptets and ...And Justice for All. God bless Dave Mustaine and Cliff Burton for creating such awesome music for us.

Epic songs, thats all I have to say. Metallica makes their first good album and start to make a name for themselves. A definite must have.

Perhaps one of the best Metallica records, it goes practically everywhere. To the classical feel of the opening of "Fight Fire With Fire" to the sinister demonic eerieness of "The Call of Ktulu" Even if you don't like Metallica, I highly suggest adding this album to your collection.

Okay first there's Fight Fire With Fire. Dude, f--- new metal. You want hardcore? Try this song. There's a solo in there that sounds like there's two guitars playing blazing descending runs, but it's just Kirk. Jesus Christ! Ride the Lightning, another absolutely gnarly tune with like a two minute solo that never gets boring. Then For Whom the Bell Tolls! That song was the first Metallica song I ever learned! Then a classic in all genres of rock: Fade to Black! Trapped Under Ice and No Escape are both asskickers! Creeping Death, another classic, thrashes and smokes and rules! Then The Call of Ktulu, a great instrumental. I would buy this CD just for the first track! Lucky for you the whole thing is pure gold!

Despite the average production and vocals this is a very good effort from Metallica: many of their classic songs like "fade to black", "for whom the bell tolls" and "creeping death" can be found from RTL. One of the best metal albums in my opinion.

A relentless onslaught of some of Metallica's best work. The blistering "Fight Fire with Fire" sets the tone for the rest of the album, and I'm convinced that "Call of Ktulu" was put in there just so you'd be able to catch your breath after "Creeping Death."

This CD is really amazing. The fact that great hits like "Ride the Lightning" For Whom the Bell Tolls", "Fade to Black", and "Call of Ktulu" all appear on one CD is amazing. Each of these songs alone could bring a band to stardom. The CD starts off soft for about 20 seconds, then explodes into a thrash happy "Fight fire with Fire". The next 20 minutes make music history with "Ride..", "For Whom..", and "Fade..", all classics. The album takes a short trip from the hits with trapped under ice, a superfast thrash song. It is all beautifully wrapped up with the instrumental "Call of Ktutlu". Listen carefully during the second verse and you'll hear the mad genius of Cliff Burton at work with a crazy solo, buried under the mix.
