One morning while I was in high school, my alarm clock radio, set to the Wayne State U. jazz station, went off to the sound of Pat Martino burning through the "Impressions" guitar solo. That experience totally blew my mind, and I bought the first copy of Consciousness I could get my hands on. I also really love the solo on "Along Came Betty", and even "Both Sides Now", the Judy Collins folk-rock tune, which Pat reconstructs into a chord/melody gem.

For those who are Pat Martino fans, this CD is nothing out of the ordinary for Pat Martino. For those who are oblivious then run out and grab this Cd. This CD grabs you from the beginning. His rendition of impressions grabs you and the CD doesn't let go until the end. The rhythm section, awesome. Being from Philly I've been exposed to Brown and Ferguson, who are totally underated and are considered monsters in their craft. We all know Pat can burn but check on his gentler side on track 3. "Passata on Guitar". Must get.
