This is a decent live album, but somehow the energy is missing in many of the tracks and the guitar is lost from time to time in the sometimes --no pun intended-- muddy mix ("No pun intended"--suuuuuuure, Maciek. We know you and your pun fetish...). The vocals aren't bad, but they're not great, either. The classics ("Hoochie Coochie Man", "Got My Mojo Workin'") seem tired and worn out, the latter probably due to the fact that the response on the call-and-response chorus is very weak--quite a frustrating fact. There are highlights (especially "Rollin' 'n' Tumblin'" and "Walkin' Blues"), and the album isn't exactly weak. It's just missing that Muddy edge. It's got a more jazzy, Charles Brown-ish feel to it. And though it may work for Charles Brown (if you like that sort of thing), it doesn't for Muddy. Get Muddy "Mississippi" Waters -- Live instead =).
