Amazing resource for lesser known bands. What seperates AMG from other sites (Like UBL or MTV) is the Music maps which trace the zillions of genres through their history.

As cool as this site is, the main problem I have with it is that anyone can claim themselves to be an expert and submit biography and discography info on an artist whom they've never met nor had any contact with.  When I told John Jorgenson about his profile on the AMG, he checked it out and told me there were many facts about his that were just plain wrong, and that a lot of the important info he had hoped would be there wasn't.  So, take what you read there with a grain of salt (i.e., don't write a book report on it until you confirm it).

This is the on-line version of the All-Music Guide (and the associated All-Blues, All-Jazz, etc.). An excellent reference tool. Has at least a discography for most artists I've heard of (and my tastes do get a little eclectic sometimes), and for the more influential ones, it has very nice biographies. Also has album info, including personnel, release date, and sometimes track listings and song author info. And there's music maps and descriptions and categorizations of different genres. An excellent site for any music lover.
