Line 6 and Arc Music Group, announced today they have signed a composition licensing agreement that will enable Line 6 to offer consumers an expanded library of titles through its award-winning GuitarPort, Line 6's computer-based learning and jamming tool.
Under the terms of the agreement, Arc Music Group will license a selection of well-known compositions and notation to Line 6 from the Arc Music Corp., Conrad Music, Jewel Music Publishing, Regent Music Corp., and Ragbag Music Publishing catalogs for use with GuitarPort Online service. The licensed song titles include: "Everyday", originally recorded by BB King; "Promised Land", made popular by Elvis Presley; "Good Morning Little School Girl", made famous by Johnny Winter; Chuck Berry's "No Particular Place To Go"; "Stone Crazy", by Buddy Guy; "Blues in B", by Benny Goodman; and Robben Ford's version of "Talk To Your Daughter".
"Through our agreement with Line 6, Arc Music is proud and thrilled to make our music more accessible to everyone, from the beginning musician to the professional," said Marshall Chess, chief operating officer, Arc Music. "We have always been on the cutting edge when it comes to licensing the classic songs in the Arc Music Group catalog, and by partnering with Line 6, we are once again on the forefront of getting our music to the public. These classic songs by Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and other giants have always been the roots of all guitar players and will continue to influence generations of musicians."
The agreement enables Line 6 to create recordings and tablature of the Arc tracks to enable users to learn and "stand in" for the guitar part, utilizing Line 6 tone to emulate the sounds of the original guitarists. For "Talk To Your Daughter", the original recording artist, Robben Ford, re-recorded the track exclusively for GuitarPort Online. In addition, for "Stone Crazy", written by Buddy Guy, Line 6 commissioned Stevie Ray Vaughan's original rhythm section, Double Trouble, to record the track.
"GuitarPort is the ideal learning device for all skill levels, delivering an unparalleled experience to inspire guitarists," said Doug Provisor, vice president online services, Line 6. "We look forward to working with companies like Arc music to offer GuitarPort users a growing library of tracks and tablature."
