Weezer Album Due in May

First Weezer album in five years nearing completion

Weezer have set a May 15th release date for their third, as-yet-untitled album. The Ric Ocasek-produced effort will be the band's first offering since 1996's Pinkerton.

The album's first single, "Hash Pipe," is scheduled to go to radio in mid-April, according to Weezer's official Web site, www.weezer.com. The band has been showcasing their new material on the Yahoo! Outloud tour, which wraps on March 18th, at which point they will mount a brief tour of Japan before the album's release.

"There's a lot of girl songs," frontman Rivers Cuomo told Rolling Stone of the album in January. "After all these years of pop music, why are there so many girl songs? What else is there to write about?"
