The Counting Crows have recorded a new song for the forthcoming independent film Ropewalk
, from first-time writer/director Matt Brown. The band had been road-testing the song "Here Comes That Feeling Again" on the latter half of their recently wrapped tour with Live and finally committed it to tape with producer Dennis Herring, who handled similar duties for the Crows' 1999 release This Desert Life
The film itself chronicles Nantucket Island twentysomethings' struggle to come to terms with the realities of aging and the fact that the place they grew up will be forever linked to a certain naughty limerick. No official release date has been set for either the film or the soundtrack, which will feature a score from noted session guitarist David Mansfield (Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan).
Elsewhere, chief Crow Adam Duritz has lent his pipes to the Songs About You
, the forthcoming solo album from San Francisco Bay Area pal Peter Stuart, former frontman of Dog's Eye View. Duritz sings back-up on a song called "Propeller Girl." Other guests featured on the record include X drummer DJ Bonebrake and Moon Unit Zappa.
The Counting Crows begin work on their next album in the spring, with Cracker frontman David Lowery producing.
