Neil Young to Release Live Album from Tour

Live album, DVD to be pulled from Neil Young tour

Neil Young has pulled together a live album from his 2000 tour for release next month. Friends and Relatives (Road Rock Vol. 1), Young's sixth live album, is set for a Nov. 21 release on Reprise. The eight-song album will feature songs pulled from the Music in Head Tour that followed the release of Silver and Gold earlier this year.

In addition to Young gems past and present (including an eighteen-minute workout on "Cowgirl in the Sand"), the album will also feature the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde guesting on Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower." Young has also included "Fool For Your Love," a tune he's played for more than a decade, but never recorded, on the album. The album features longtime Young cohorts including pedal steel guitarist Ben Keith, pianist Spooner Oldham, bassist Donald "Duck" Dunn, drummer Jim Keltner and Astrid and Pegi Young on backing vocals.

Despite telling RollingStone.com in March that he had no plans to tour behind Silver and Gold, Young has offered a cornucopia for fans. In addition to the thirty-three dates that made up the tour and the release of Friends and Relatives, Young is also planning to release a DVD and video in December. Red Rocks Live, Friends and Relatives was captured at Young's Sept. 19 show at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. The DVD, which also works in audio format, features a twenty-song set from the venue.

Should that not be enough live Young, Year of the Horse, director Jim Jarmusch's film that followed Young with Crazy Horse on their 1996 tour, is also being readied for release on DVD on Nov. 14, with some additional interview clips with Young and the band.

Track listing for Friends and Relatives:

Cowgirl in the Sand
Walk On
Fool For Your Love
Peace of Mind
Motorcycle Mama
Words
Tonight's the Night
All Along the Watchtower
