Kid Rock Gives Solo Tour a Go

After Metallica tour, Kid Rock adds solo summer dates
Posted Jun 16, 2000 at 12:00am
Kid Rock's so tight with Metallica, he has a framed pair of Lars Ulrich's Speedos in his home. But after making the rounds on Metallica's Summer Sanitarium tour, the Detroit rapper will sever ties with the metal monsters for his own eighteen-date headlining tour and a little "personal self healing." "When [fans] come to my shows, it's a release," Kid Rock told Rolling Stone. "There's nothing to think about. There's no country to save, no donation to be made . . . You come and let it all out. Show your tits if you're a girl, drink some beers if you're a guy."

With Metallica, Kid Rock will hit the Experience Music Project in Seattle June 23 and the Hard Rock Café-sponsored Rockfest in Chicago July 22. His own tour kicks off August 2 outside of Chicago and wraps up in Clarkston, Michigan September 1. In the meantime, Kid Rock also pops up on DJ Uncle Kracker's performance during the Fox broadcast of the Blockbuster Music Awards on June 20.
