Bob Dylan, Phil Lesh to Tour Together

Summer tour to feature Dylan, Dead bassist
Posted May 29, 2000 at 12:00am
Following last year's successful joint outing, Bob Dylan and former Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh will mount another tour this summer. The thirty-one-date tour will make thirty stops, with Lesh and Dylan taking turns as the evening's closing act. Opening acts for the performances will vary, with Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident and Guster opening on certain dates.

For Lesh, the tour means sitting out on this year's Further Festival, featuring former Dead buddies Bob Weir and Mickey Hart. Instead, Lesh has lined up a touring unit that includes Robben Ford (guitar), John Molo (drums), and Little Feat's Paul Barrere (guitar) and Billy Payne (keyboards).

Throughout the tour, the musicians will offer up a variety of ephemera such as signed posters, T-shirts, wristbands and other concert-related keepsakes on to be auctioned off with the proceeds going towards music programs in public schools.
