The Smashing Pumpkins to Follow Promo Tour With Real Tour

Smashing Pumpkins "Sacred and Profane" tour to kick off in Kansas City
Posted Mar 9, 2000 at 12:00am
The Smashing Pumpkins have just announced the first eleven dates on their U.S. tour in support of Machina/the Machines of God... and this time, they're bringing their instruments to every show.

Christened "The Sacred and Profane" tour, the Pumpkins latest go-round follows a short whirl through the record store circuit, which found Billy Corgan and Co. throwing their faithful a few live songs in a couple of key cities but doling out only autographs and handshakes for most fans along the way -- a down-home strategy which may well have helped Machina debut at No. 3 on the SoundScan album charts this week. But since the band has booked ballrooms and theaters this time, rest assured they'll get their rocks off.

Although there are only ten cities so far on the Pumpkins' tour itinerary, more dates will be announced soon. The initial dates are as follows:

4/8 Kansas City, Kan., Memorial Auditorium
4/10 St. Louis, Mo., American Theater
4/12 Minneapolis, Minn., Northrop Auditorium
4/13 Milwaukee, Wis., Eagles Ballroom
4/15-16 Chicago, Ill., Aragon Ballroom
4/18 West Lafayette, Ind., Elliot Hall of Music
4/21 Dayton, Ohio, Hara Arena
4/23 Cleveland, Ohio, Kent State Gymnasium
4/29 Lowell, Mass., Tsongas Arena
5/8 Orlando, Fla., Hard Rock Live
