"Young Lovers" is an instrumental ballad featuring an acoustic accompanyment and an electric guitar lead. The structure of the song is basically 3 chords that I thought sounded nice together. The lead/melody guitar (distorted line and clean octaves) are both improvised solos. And the main scale used is simply E major.
I have called this "Young Lovers" because the mood of the chords and the melody guitars evoke images (for me personally) of adolescents flirting, kissing and experiencing the ups and downs of love. Sounds corny huh?
With the exception of one track, this piece was recorded on the 3rd of October, 2002. On the 13th of October, 2002, I added an additional acoustic guitar track recorded on my semi-acoustic Seagull guitar. I felt the rhythm guitar lacked warmth, I think the acoustic adds that warmth. Once i'd added the acoustic rhythm track, I panned the original set of guitar tracks +50 (right speaker), and the acoustic track -50 (left speaker)
Was recorded at home using a direct line from my Marshall Valvestate 2000 AVT amplifier's Emulated Line Output jack. From my amp the lead goes into the microphone jack in my PC soundcard and Cool Edit Pro 2 does the rest.
The guitar used was a Joe Satriani model JS-100 Ibanez electric.
