The other guitar player in the band came up with the basic outline of the song, showed it to me, then left the continent for a month. When he got back, about all that was left for him to do was a solo. All the guitar work was done on Joe's $250 brand new Ibanez RG with the plastic still over the pickups. We tracked it into my Roland 1880 but did most of the mixing and all of the editing in Cakewalk.

I am most impressed with the Roland line of digital audio workstations! I never use my mike preamps, compressors, or any of my rack stuff anymore. Take a listen to the drums, I had my Alesis SR15 drum machine play one beat throughout and I did the rest in real-time with my two index fingers, and I never played the drums.

The song is in D minor, and the bass and the vocals drive the tune. The MTV video will show a fish in a tank- animation, which will get a wild scare, jump out of the tank, and ride a skateboard down to the ocean (having fun on the way) and swim away free at last.
