Gravedigger Blues is my personal ode to fingerstyle acoustic blues guitar. It's in standard tuning and the key of E. The first section is based on my
Gravedigger Blues lesson, and following that I play through the licks in my
Dead Thumb lesson. After that I just vamp on some more E blues ideas with walking bass. The style is very loose and relaxed, as I really tried to articulate the phrasing of the lead voice. This was done in one take pluged directly into a computer with some improvisation, so it's free and easy as the blues should be.
I used a Takamine model EF 108K acoustic guitar pluged directly into my buddy's home computer. Recorded using Sonic Foundry Vegas Pro and edited with Soundforge: some EQ tweaking and mild reverb added by my roommate, Sloan Tash.
