Hello and Welcome Guitar Brothers and Sisters!
Hi, my name is Drew. I've been playing guitar since I was in fifth grade (1970). I also sing (tenor-baritone range), play harmonica, the recorder family, bass guitar, and some keyboards, cello, trombone, banjo, ukeleles, autoharps, just a variety of instruments weird, wild, wacky, & wonderful!

Background stuff
I was born in Southern California in 1958. I started playing guitar, harmonica, and alto sax in 5th grade, then started taking guitar lessons in 8th grade, with an emphasis on jazz and music theory. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - In high school I played in all the bands that there were: Guitar in Jazz Band, Banjo in Dixieland Band, Sax in Marching Band, etc. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I moved up to the Mojave Desert in 1980 and started playing "professionally" (well, for a living) from 1980 to 1991. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I got an A.A. in music from Victor Valley Community College at that time. I quit playing in bars and clubs when I finally quit a 17 year drug and alcohol habit/addiction/lifestyle. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I played and sang on Calvary Chapel of Phelan, CA's Worship Team from 1994 to 2002, but then I finished my B.A. in Liberal Studies at Cal Baptist U. (Hesperia) to become an elementary school teacher. I began a K-8 multiple subject teaching credential program at Chapman U. (Victorville) and have been teaching! I taught a year of 4th grade, then a year or 1st grade for Hesperia SD at Lime Street Elem., and now I am teaching early childhood special education in Adelanto for SBCSS and finishing an ECSE credential and SE Master's degree at Cal State San Bernardino. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Time is at a premium for a any teacher, so I mainly do music at the City Mission of San Bernardino for their homeless meals and special outreaches and holiday stuff, and help with kid's and adult music at the Village Church in Wrightwood. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I want to give back to my community some of what kept me going; encouragement, love, joy, peace, God, and good music!
Musical Influences
• In elementary school: Mr. Dick Roosman, my 5th grade teacher, who gave me the guitar bug.
• In junior high: Mr. Chuck Raye (Radino), a great jazz guitarist and teacher from the "old school."
• In high school: Mr. Robert Rose, music teacher and band leader who believed in me when I was messin' up at everything but music.
  Favorite Recordings
• Anything by Joe Pass, Lenny Breau, Martin Taylor, Tuck Andress, Ed Bickert, all the "chordal" jazz guitar guys.
• I grew up on the Grateful Dead, the Allman Bros. Steely Dan, and still love 'em!
• The acoustic fingerstylists! Tommy Emmanuel, Laurence Juber, David Cullen - so great!
