Any good guitar, like Ibanez, that have a locking tremelo system.

Strings will stay in tune, especially with different tunings.

Yeah, I agree with Bruce. Ibanez guitars are usually your best bet for that kind of playing. Get a locking tremelo and locking tuners or nut.

If u wanna go really low, u might consider a baritone guitar. I've never actually played one, but it's supposed to be tuned an octave lower than a regular guitar.

I thought they were tuned down a fifth not an octave.

I'm suprised Bruce M has plugged Les Pauls. So I will. Gibson Les Pauls are played by so many for heavy metal.

I was going to, but I think a locking trem sys is better for the head banger.

I sometimes wish I had a locking tremelo. I'm always re-tuning on the fly.

Fit an LP with locking tremelo and I will retract.

I'm sure it's been done. Can't remember seeing one though. It would probably ruin the LP. Kinda like when they fitted one with a Bigsby.

The problem is to fit a locking nut tremolo and still have a normal action, you'd have to cut a cavity into the body of the Les Paul (not at the back of the guitar, but the front side) - nobody would really like doing this.

That's probably why I never have seen one. And I don't think I want to either.

That's a sad scenario.

I've got two LP with floyd's.Thay bassicly sound like REALLY expensive strats.Rethinking it, I would've kept the floyd's off the things, but we all do stupid stuff.(Some more than others)

I thought about doing the same after I saw one years ago. I really wanted the whammy.

But I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Stay with a "Strat for That"

They make locking tuners which I have heard are spectacular for guitars without locking tremolos. I have an Ibanez with floyd rose and it is great for metal, but on my Yamaha, the strings go out of tune so quickly that i am weighing on the thought of locking tuners. They keep your "out of tune" guitar "out of tune." As a side note, definitely go with humbuckers for rhythm...that is metal scripture, but if you are a lead man, mix in some single coil
