Message Board Weirdness

Hi, i'm a newbie, so its quite possible this is my fault, but last night i replied to 3 messages on the boards, got the thank you messages and saw the posts. I checked back today to see if anyone had commented on what i wrote and they were gone! I checked my home page and it says i've only posted 1 and my whole note points total was the same as when i logged in last night but when i reviewed a site, next to my name on the review i have 40 points when i should only have 29 if my fretbuzz posts didnt work - what gives?

Richard.

Hi Richard
I just looked and your home page it list 6 messages and your point total is 47. Maybe a lag in update time because you are on another continent??

I think you're right man. when I first came to this siteI was the nicest guy you'd ever meet but all of my posts came across rude. I think Cris was messing with my posts.

Looks like things are ok now. Maybe it was the lag time, or a script error. Who knows.

You can click on the points next to your name, and get a breakdown of how the points were accumulated.

Or your webpage, if you made one.

The only reasonable explanation I can figure is that some of the pages of the site may have been "cached" by your browser, such that you weren't looking at the most current version. Every browser has a setting under Preferences or Options that asks how often to check for newer versions of web pages: 'Never', 'Once a Session', and 'Every Time'. On a site like WN where the content changes pretty dynamically, you can get versions of pages that have been 'saved' by your computer instead of the most current one if your computer hasn't checked to see if there is a newer version. Thus, the most optimal setting for this site is 'Every Time'.

He he, when i posted that last message i could see my post from last night and da boss's reply. First thing i tried when i noticed the problem was hitting the refresh button but that just kicked me back to the whole note home page, im sure i remember seeing an option in ie5 that ran along the lines of "check for newer version of page allways/never" but i cant find the bloody thing, i'll try emptying my temp internet files after posting something tommorow and see what happens, i'd try it now but its 2.30am over here and i have to get up for work at 6 - see what happens when you find a good site.........
