I wouldn't fret it bro. If somebody doesn't want to learn via your methods, they should look somewhere else.

That's too bad. I seem to recall your lessons were always good. Which one is the complaint about?
I guess you also have to keep in mind that there are lots of trolls about who thrive on getting a reaction out of others. Learning who to ignore and who to acknowledge is a modern skill I've had to learn when working with the internet.

When I checked it, it was odd that the music wasn't displaying until the link was clicked...oh well...

It was me who complained but I wasn't complaining because I'm a troll or my life is empty! It wasn't really a complaint anyway, more a comment.

The point about Wholenote is that it's good to hear what music people have made. Press a button and there it is. I enjoy that, it brings it to life. I've spent a long time on Composer getting the notes and sounds right and I know people like to hear it. They tell me so.

I too could just scan a score and print it on the page. Unless you're a very experienced musician who can 'hear' the notes it probably won't mean much and most of us aren't that good.

I just think it takes away the whole raison d'etre for Wholenote if we do that. The tools are there to use. If we're not going to use them because we can't be bothered then what's the point of having them?

I'm not saying Jeremy shouldn't have done it that way, only that it would be nice to have the music brought to life, that's all. There's a lesson by Rick Payman called 'African Echoes'. If he'd just posted the notation you'd never get a flavour of the thing. Hearing those complex rhythms makes you want to go and do it!

Actually, I believe at the time you posted it, the Composer wasn't even available, so it couldn't have been input as a sequence anyway.

I think an important point is that all these things happen on one's own time, and if a member is taking time to share knowledge in a lesson, then that can only be a good thing, whatever the medium or raison d'etre may be. If the main focal point is a linked image or a Youtube vid, that works.

Now ... that being said, there are now a few more benefits to using sequences in lessons. Specifically:

• MP3 files of your lesson examples

• Image files of your lesson examples

• Embed code which you can cut and paste to show them in a site message, in your blog, or wherever HTML is accepted

So, basically, we now give you the tools to create tab images and MP3s of your work, publish them, and host them, just by pointing and clicking on the Composer/Groove Builder.

For some, that might be worth spending the extra time with the site's built-in composition tools, and for others, not so much.

Either way, getting the knowledge out is the most important thing.
