WholeNote Health and Fitness Thread

I thought it would be nice to have a thread to where we can post what we are doing to keep in shape or something to do with health.

I'll start by saying that today I want to do 100 pushups, 50 situps and go for and hour walk, the walk that is, if it doesn't start to rain again.

I just back in from doing a "walk, jogging". One hour and 45 minutes. Went 4090 meters or 2.54 miles. Feel pretty good. Now I still have to do them pushups and situps.

I ran 3 miles today... uphill... both ways.

Actually, I did do a 3 mile run. I use the HandyRunner app which uploads my runs to RunningAhead.com.

Shows you how fast you run, elevation, pace... handy tool!

I started training in October of 2011 for my first half-marathon - Surf City - in Feb 2012. Did that in 3 hours and 45 minutes. My first official event was on Thanksgiving Day where I did my first 10K. As for recently, a 10K in April and just last weekend the Revlon 5K Run/Walk for Women.

I will continue to participate in 5 and 10K's as I find ones that I want to do and in the meantime I go to gym 2-3 times a week and will work on light weights from 45 min - 1 Hour. On these days I get out for a 45 min bike ride of which I am looking to increase to an hour. On the other days I run/walk 3 miles or will go with the Signal Hill Hiking club and get my legs torched climbing the hill - 5.92 miles of which I am only good for about 4.5 miles of 4 hills of torture. On the weekend if it is not an event, I will get in 6-8 miles of walking of which I am working on run/walking - the ratio would be for every two miles I walk, I run one.

Come September 2012 I will return to half-marathon training again as I plan to do the Las Vegas Rock and Roll Half-Marathon in December.

Man, there is just NOT enough hours in the day for me to do all that stuff.....I'm lucky if I do my hour-walks 2-3 times per week, and/or lift weights a couple night a week...

Let me starting by saying: I'm a vegetarian. Although I do drink milk and eat cheese. Being vegetarian makes you avoid fast food more and thus rebelling against the meat industry a bit.

As for exercise, usually I go every other day to the gym and do rotations of lat pull downs for my back, push-ups for my pectorial muscles, curls for biceps and tricep extensions for triceps (of course). Then I do an intense run for 10 minutes. I then finish off with some crunches and static leg lifts for my abs.

Otherwise I don't have that much time. But I do try and make an effort. Oh yeah... and I get like 7-8 hours a night of sleep. Sleep is always important especially if you want proper diet and exercise.
