Aria gold top
I stumbled across an old Aria copy of a Les Paul - gold top type.
Its not a perfect copy, but somewhat close. Its a bolt on neck model, and they did block inlays, including a big block inlay on the first fret, which is something I think the old MIJ factories did sometimes. Its light for an LP, so I wonder if its hollow or partly hollow like some of the old copies were.
The binding and inlay work are really well done, better than the quality on the Sears and Wards guitars from what I can recall.
Seemed well made, fit and finish was nice. Must be about 40 years old. Tuners were upgraded I think.... does anyone know what it might be worth?

WOW !
That one in the photos is a little different. The one I looked at has gold on the back of the instrument as well. It also has some areas where the gold has turned green, much like a real old LP gold top would.
The one I looked at either came with black mounting rings and exposed coil HBs, or was customized to those pickups and rings.
I am guessing the one I looked at is from 1970 to 74 - might look at it again.
Is it just me, or does Wholenote look a lot better these days ???

You're right....A good friend of mine has 2 of them, and he claims they're better then 95% of the LP's out there today. He couldn't wait to get his hands on the 2nd one. And he HAS an older Gibson LP, as well...which never gets played anymore! LOL

I found one online that sold in Australia, at least I think it was Australia from the web address. Did not find the price for the Aussie one. The pawn shop wanted $200 for this particular instrument they had. From what I read online, its from 1970 to 74 , but not really the pinnacle of Japan's great guitars.
