New find

Just bought out some kid that had a few guitars and amps and didn't play any more. Got the whole lot for a song, figured I'd sell everything individually and pocket some profits.

In this lot is a Fender Stage 112SE 1x12 combo. I've had a Fender Stage combo around here before. It was made in Mexico, and sounded cheap. I plugged this in just make sure it worked, and wow, it sounded different. Then I noticed the Made In USA logo. It took me about 5 seconds to crank this thing up and dial in an amazing sound. I also thought, wow this is loud! Turns out this thing is 160 watts. The clean is genuine Fender clean, sparkly and punchy. It'll pin your ears back if you hit it hard, and make you smile if you play some jazz chords. The crunch was actually that, an absolute crunch. With the gain halfway up it has a satisfying growl, and is very articulate. I played Bad Company's Rock Steady, and it snarled perfectly.

Now, I wouldn't usually come to you guys bragging about a solid state amp because I know most of you guys are tube purists, but I'm telling you, this little bastard sounds incredible. I'm keeping it as my carry around, open jam, sit in for the night, going to a buddy's house, all purpose amp, and selling my Randall hybrid combo.

Anyone wanna buy a Randall?

What kind of Randall do you have, Michael?

I used to have a sweet RG80 "combo 1x12" back in the day.....LOVED IT! I also had 2 (80's era) Randall stacks. (many years ago)...Great stuff!

I tell ya, sometimes you find a gem when you don't expect it. I got a little Peavey Backstage Plus at a pawnshop a few weeks back... with a little TLC its a pretty nice amp. Even has a spring reverb.

While I may be a purist you do sometimes hit a win on SS type amps as there are some decent ones out there. Good on ya bro - HNAD on 4/11/12
