I knew about it 20 years ago. I guess they tried to keep it quite for the tourist to still come. But really, I heard they pump sand on Oahu's beaches because it is so bad.

It is an Island system that is basically alive and changing every day with lava flows etc. I wonder what it will look like in 20 years?

So true bro! A new island Loihi will eventually pop through the Pacific Ocean's surface one day. As for one when - I don't know. According to this website, Loihi will surface in the next 10,000 to 100,000 years.

Let me know about that too on the Cryo lab. Would love to see Loihi surface.

Let's not also forget global warming. With the north pole melting there is an increase in the height of the waters which is also contributing to the demise of the beaches. To add insult to injury, the state of Hawaii is slowly migrating due to the continental shift. We won't see it in our lifetime but my home will one day be Japan's neighbor however it will probably be underwater.
