And on the 4730th day of WholeNote ...

... there were some site changes.

I just finished putting in a reworking of the entire platform. The actual functionality of the site (e.g. the major sections) hasn't really changed (... yet ...), but the foundation upon which the site rests is completely revamped, and should make it speedier and easier to use.

A few things that are currently missing:

  • The Composer -- considering it became inoperative for most members a long time ago, this shouldn't be a total loss. It will be reworked and relaunched in the coming weeks.

  • Search -- there is presently no search functionality on the site (save for the riff search engine) but since the search had become decrepit as well, I'm guessing this may not be a big issue in the short term. It will return, but I thought it was more important to put up a modernized version of the site sooner, even if it was somewhat incomplete.

Anyway, with such change, there are bound to be going to be bugs, so under the 'And More' link at the top, there's a bugs/suggestions link which you can use to tell me what's amiss, should you feel inclined.

In the coming days, I'll be posting a bit more about some of the changes (for ex, the tuner does alt tunings now), so until then ...

Cool enough! Thanks to Randy for messaging me on FB me about the change.

WN was the first forum of any kind that I joined...thanks for updating it, Chris.
In case I miss the vote ..."NO" to the f'n open forum!

Later,
Edd

Now here's a site for sore eyes! (respect to Time Vine for his original joke).

Many thanks for doing this, Chris - it may have been a while, but I (for one) never gave up hope!

I may even feel inspired to post/rework a Lesson or two (pending a shiny new Composer)...

Cheers - Rick.

Hey, I think some of your lessons may have used Javascript to talk to the sound controls and other things. Unfortunately, in the new system, everything gets put through a purifier, so no more Javascript in lesson text, but I might be able to rig something up for ya if it's an integral part.

In any event, there should be a new Composer in a few weeks, it'll have a few more bells and whistles, and should work for the far foreseeable future.

So nice to hear from you!

I think most (if not all) of my old Javascript code has been broken for some considerable time now, as browsers/standards have evolved over the last decade.

I should probably now go though and delete my broken 'interactive' Lessons, so I wouldn't worry too much about maintaining any.

Nice to hear from you also!

Yeah there are a few of us who are still here where this was their first online forum as well. Wholenote was my first as well back somewhere between 2001-2002.
