I just listened to your jazz stuff, if that was you that is. Nice stuff. What kind of guitar are you using? Nice fingering also.

Thats actually one of my beaters, a MIchael Kelly Patriot. My
primary Jazz Box is having some mods done to it but the MK does
the job. My amp is the 4 speaker Microcube right next to amp, I
love solid state amps for jazz.

I wanted a microcube at one point... ended up
getting a honeytone mini amp from Danelectro.
Regardless, I liked the retro look of the mini amp.

I just love the microcube(s) I have three different models. Great little
gigging amps for small venus. If you want to play bop lines only.
you can run your ipod thru it, or it also has drum machine built in.

The one i used on the recording id MC stereo w/4 small 4
speakers but I have original (no drum machine) and the street
performer which is wedge shaped and projects outside better plus it
has a better sounding acoustic parameters.

Do you mean Roland's Cube/Microcube? I got one used a while back (MicroCube) ... I have to admit they are pretty cool.

Yeah, I love em. The tone is actually similar to the vox acs (solid
states) but a lot cheaper.

The MC is really easy to use too - easy to dial up chorus or reverb and other effects without going thru menus and such.

The tone you got is great so it got my searching again but the eagle has not landed. A great consideration for when I do breakdown and ready to buy something.

Solid State seems to work best for Jazz. I am still using tube amps for this but am considering getting one just for that modality. May look into the cube or may go to another approach. A Polytone would be ideal but just too much money if I can find another path. I have considered going with just 44 Magnum with maybe a chorus and reverb in front. Volume and Tone controls purely from the guitar - Well the 44 Magnum has a master. Really it depends on how much clean headroom I can get out of it and all of this makes traveling easier.

How do you like the 44 Mag? What cab do you use with it?

You might find a Roland Cube that you like.

I haven't done it yet but if I were I would just be running it with Celetion equipped MB Thiele cabs. They has a nice warmth that I love.

After I posted regarding the cube I figured I would search ebay, craigslist and even GC used online and my decision was to pass on it. I have done this search many times and have never been convinced to go this route. So I am still in inner debate and conflict.

Lots of choices and deviations to choose from. The best mental choice that I may consider is to build another amp with a higher powered back end to improve headroom and no master.

Yeah, the old Roland JC120 Jazz Chorus was awesome! Played through one...man, had to be almost 27 years ago, and sounded really nice!

if I didn't have to be the one to carry it around,
I'd love to play a 175 through a Fender Twin all
the time.

The smaller Roland JC's just aren't the same
somehow...I've tried a lot of different kinds of
amps over the years and there's not much I'd take
over a JC-120.

Ah yes, they ol Joe pass rig. Probably one of the most used by the
