A/B/Y Box

Hi Chris. I looked into A/B/Y boxes, and that's not exactly what I was looking for. However, your comment DID lead to what I AM looking for which is a 2-loop effects looper where switching either of the effect loops can switch the other off...specifically a gigrig Loopy-2. It's $176 (yikes!). So unless I can find one much cheaper I might just do the foot tango switching 3 stompboxes back and forth for a particular tune.

If you have 2 inputs on the amp or 2 amps, you might make the ABY switch work.

I think you could do this easily if you added a
patch bay.

Boss makes a switch with 2 loops, and they sequence. Hit it once, it goes to loop A, hit it again it goes to loop B, hit it again, the loops are out and you're back to bypass. You can change how they sequence, and whether it uses 1 or 2 loops. Pretty handy item.

Yes... the patch bay with the ABY. If you use those
two together I think it will work. I may be able to
map it out for you...

Based on the patch bays I have seen online, they might have a lot more inputs and outputs than are are really needed, but I guess one of those could be used for home recording as well.

I primarily used mine for home recording, Ken. As
a matter of fact, I had 2 of them!

I had an 8 channel snake running out of the top
one to my digital recorder. I then used the
another 8 for effects/pre-amps in my rack.

The 2nd one was connected to my pedals (Korg
AX3000G, Adrenalinn A3, Boss RC-20, Digitech
Vocalist Live 4, etc), amplifiers, keyboards and
midi drums.

I would plug my guitar into any one, then route my
signal chain appropriately.

An ABY could be used to switch my Parker from
using an electric amp to using an acoustic amp
etc.

It was a very delicious set up!
