guitar shopping

Well it's been Golden Week here in Japan and for any of you Hawaiians you know what that means. (randy)
Anyway we had a lunch date with my wife's girlfriend whom we hadn't seen in a few years. We both live in the southern part of Japan but it's like over 4 hours to see each other, so we met in Fukuoka. Now I mention earlier that I was hoping to buy a semi hollow next time I get to Fukuoka. We first had a lunch buffet (Italian) at a major hotel. I got to admit it was very good and the quality was tops. We sat there for 2.5 hours chatting. After that we left. My wife's friend is not in very good health, so I was really hoping to find a guitar store nearby, suddenly my wife comes down with a fever so we went to an underground shopping mall and looked around, eventually sitting down for the next 2 hours chatting over some bakery goods and coffee. I said to myself well no guitar shopping/buying today. So I came back home without even seeing a guitar .

wife still has her fever but getting better.

My guess would be Japan doesn't always have sunshine? Here in LA, sunshine almost year around. The exception in that one month when we do get rain. We also have our have our June gloom mornings but sunshine follows in the afternoon.

My wife's a guitar player, and still sometimes I don't get to go guitar shopping when I want.

Yeah, no kidding...

I'm on the lookout for a Kramer Stagemaster (Neck Thru) from the 1986-1987 era. Used to own a gorgeous one, and had to sell it for money.

Dale,

Same here. I can look all I want, but, if something is over $30, I need to check before spending. I set that rule myself since a long time agao I went and bought several items in three days for around $35 each. Added up too quick for her. Plus, now we have kids and the associated expenses there.

The killer part is the added clause she tagged on....you can buy another guitar as long as you get rid of one of the ones you have now! Oh, the pain!! HA!! So, I just look, I don't touch often. I'm afraid that if I play a really nice guitar, I'll want it and then.......

But I look all the time. And occassionally I'll play an inexpensive one, but stay away from upper end models. No Paul Reed Smiths, Gretch Brian Setzer Models, or upper end Fenders.

But, yeh, I look...and drool.

My wife is too smart to go for that. She will look at the dollars, not the number of guitars. Otherwise, I would dump my little entry-level Ibanez for a top-line PRS, LOL!

No, not really. I look at the budget myself, and I don't see "guitar" in it. Heck, I sometimes don't even see "dinner" in it! I just count my blessings I am still employed at all. At least for a few more months anyway, before NASA shrinks to nothing!

That's what is nice about gigging constantly as it is musical play money. The home budget (real job) is for the home but the gig money is for play. Same as when I teach which is I haven't done in a while.

I am there with you on work Dale. Sorry about the NASA thing bro.

I needed to be sure that the name of the city was real.
I admit, it's childish and I'm a bit ashamed of it, but I couldn't let it untold...
