The Obscure Guitar List

Guitar Brethren,
I'm just curious to know what are some of your favorite electric guitars, outside of what we all have at home(Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, etc.)? I want to hear brand names I never heard of. What guitars have you found out there struck a chord(no pun intended) with you??

Hey guys, I've been on 48th st. here in NYC and in the non-music stores(mostly electronic stores on the corner of the Sam Ash/Manny's Music block)I see 2 strange guitar brands:Hondo and Sledghammer. Any comments on that??

well, i don't know if they're obscure, but they are more high-end (expensive) brands therefore to average folk like us - they are obscure.

i've done some reading-up on Zion, Andersen, G&L, Sadowsky..i'd love to get one of each. these guitars usually start in the $1500-ish range.

Hey,

My favorite "obscure" guitars would be...

McInturff Guitars

J. Frog Guitars
(Famous for the George Lynch Skull Guitar)

Driskill Guitars (TOTALLY HANDMADE!) Best quality I've ever seen.

BC.Rich Mockingbird or Eagle models
(NOT the garbage ones you see in Musician's Friend, but the CUSTOM ones)

Hey Dexter,

yeah, BC Rich WAS an excellent company back in the day. Bernie Rico built some incredible guitars, handcrafted, and way ahead of his time with his designs! Find a BC Rich with his signature on it, and you'll be paying some SERIOUS money for it!

McInturf guitars are very nice, guitars as well.

J. Frog was a brand that made the famous Skull Guitar owned by George Lynch (Dokken)

And the best of all would be Driskill guitars!

Check out his website!!!! www.driskillguitars.com
Get ready to be AMAZED!

My obscure guitar would be a Les Paul Copy sold under the Zapp name and marketed by Red Tree Music. My Dad bought it for me new in 1978, I still have it and it plays great. I have tried to find out more about these guitars on the web but all I can find is about the line of amps that Red Tree Music sold under the Zapp name. Anyone ever heard of them, or know more about them?
